Giraffe Habitat Renovation and Expansion Tall Wonders – Giraffe Habitat Renovation and Expansion
Help the Sacramento Zoo reach new heights by donating to Tall Wonders, a construction project to renovate the outdated giraffe exhibit. Val, Skye and Goody, the Zoo’s three giraffes, are currently housed in a barn nearly 50 years old, and in desperate need of renovation. The aging wooden enclosure is small and drafty, and the Zoo has made a commitment to build a new exhibit that will include a larger barn constructed of concrete block with nine multi-functional stalls, expanded outdoor grounds and an elevated visitor walkway where guests can greet the giraffes eye-to-eye. A larger, better-equipped enclosure will accommodate additional giraffes, with plans for a male and resulting offspring. Tall Wonders will cost an estimated $2 million. To date, we've passed the $1.8 million mark, but there is still much to do. We are asking you, as a friend of the animals, to help us raise the additional funds to make Tall Wonders a reality. Together, we will provide a newly-renovated, giraffe-friendly home for Val, Skye & Goody. Building Supplies Needed Please contact Mark Foltz at Otto Construction (916) 441-6870 to provided any of the following items or services. Skilled licenced insured labor. Material donations of AC paving, skylights and a crane. Thank you for your support of Tall Wonders!
The Sacramento Zoo officially broke ground on the Tall Wonders project! Demolition is moving foward, but we still need to raise funds to reach our $2 million goal. Please donate now!
